Achieving Success Through Science, Service and Compassion

For Families

What to expect on your first visit:

Entering a new environment can be overwhelming for your child and your family. At ABA4U we want to ensure that your first experience is as pleasant and positive as possible.

During the initial assessment our Board Certified Behavior Analysts will spend time getting to know your child and your family. The BCBA will discover how your child is motivated, how he/she likes to play and interact, and what specific challenges he/she may have. It is always helpful to bring highly preferred items (e.g. toys, snacks) from home. Items from home may also help your child feel more comfortable in this new environment.

Once your child has warmed up to the new environment and our clinical team, a skills assessment(s) will be conducted. This is to obtain the most accurate and objective information on your child’s skill level and current level of functioning.  Assessments will be conducted in a play setting with preferred items.

Our Case Manager will meet with you to discuss your families unique goals and needs. It is helpful if all of your paperwork is filled out beforehand so that we may have as much knowledge about your case as possible before we meet. It is possible to watch the assessmen virtualy while you are meeting with the Case Manager.
